KITCHEN
Formerly a lounge, a kitchen and a storeroom with staircase access to the upper level, this is now a warm, bright, airy, generously proportioned multipurpose space that makes the most of the incredible sea views and is enjoyed 24 hours a day for cooking, dining, working, socialising, relaxing, watching TV and often just revelling in the beauty of the Berwickshire landscape.
The Junckers solid hardwood oiled worktops extend along two walls, and the extensive range of timber-fronted & framed cabinetry with under-cupboard lighting provides stacks of storage space. Paint colour is British Racing Green (#004225) in eggshell finish. All your cooking needs are handled by HC's Rayburn Royal OF22, and there is also a separate ceramic hob.
The ceiling is the original lath & plaster which has been limewashed previously. Some minor hairline cracking is visible along the boundary outlines of the 3 former rooms - particularly at the site of the old staircase. The exterior walls are drylined. The remainder are plastered on the hard. The uneven plasterwork behind the flue pipe on the western wall has been formed by the beautiful continuous warmth generated by the Rayburn combined with the actions of an over-zealous chimney sweep.
Dimensions: 6.02m x 4.74m approx. Click any photo below to view the full size version.
